How to earn money from a mobile app development

Anyone can earn money through Android or IOS mobile app using the following ways

1) Free app with ads
2) Free app having some paid services, features or items
3) Paid app
4) Sell items through an e-commerce app
5) Free app with Affiliate Marketing links

Let’s see each one in detail and check which things are required

1) Free app with ads

This is the most popular and easy way to earn money through a mobile app. Create a mobile app and then show ads in that app. There are lots of ads providers available like Google Ads, Facebook Ads, etc. Ad providers will provide details of how to show ads in the app. Please follow Ad providers' policy very strictly otherwise they will block or suspend your account. Don’t worry about ad publishers or rates. Providers will manage each and everything. They will pay you in your bank account directly on a monthly basis. Income depends upon ad clicks, a country from where an ad is clicked, ad size, ad type and rate of that ad.

Pros

a. Free app downloads will be more as compared to the paid app. So earning will increase as downloads will increase.

Cons

a. It will take time to generate money through ads.
b. Income will not be stable on a daily basis. Sometimes you will get a few dollars for a day or some time it will be almost zero.

2) Free app having some paid services, features or items

Just sell some services, features or items in the app and get direct money in your account. For example, in a game like app, sell game money, weapons, extra life or advanced stages, etc. Also in any other app, sell advance services like expert advice, any kind of downloads or remove ads, etc. Both the Play Store and the App Store provides inbuilt API for selling items in-app as “In-app purchases”. Give a free trial to the user for a few days and after that ask the user to purchase.

Pros

a. The money will directly be added in your Play Store or App Store account.
b. Customize price any time or offer discounts from Play Store or App Store account. For making these changes, there is no need to update the app.

Cons

a. It is difficult to convince the user to purchase an item.
b. Income directly depends upon purchases.

3) Paid app

If you think your app has that much of high quality then make it paid. While publishing to the Play Store or App Store, make it paid app and set the selling price. Also, it is possible to change the country wise price or offer discounts through the Play Store or App Store account.

Pros

a. The money will directly be added in Play Store or App Store account.
b. Customize price any time or make sell from Play Store or App Store account. For making these changes, there is no need to update the app.

Cons

a. It is difficult to convince a user to purchase the app. Also, the user may search for a free alternative for the same app.
b. Income directly depends upon purchases and downloads will be less as compared to the free app.

4) Sell items through an e-commerce app

Create a mobile app which directly offers goods to sell to consumers. Sell your home product or other manufacturers' product. Use third-party payment APIs or e-wallet to facilitate users to buy.

Pros

a. The money will directly be added in bank account via the third party.
b. Have more controls on items, price, and management.

Cons

a. Need to take care of the delivery of items, returns, and customer satisfaction.
b. Income directly depends upon purchases.

5) Free app with Affiliate Marketing links

Affiliate marketing means, sell goods from another company or seller and they will give you commission on that sell. The commission will be in the percentage of the actual purchase amount. There are already big giants available in the market like Amazon, Flipkart, Paytm, etc. which provides affiliate links. Login to their affiliate program then get affiliate links and show in the app. If user purchases that item using your affiliate link then respected company will transfer commission to you.

Pros

a. No need to worry about the delivery of items, returns, and customer satisfaction. Seller will manage all these things.

Cons

a. When a user clicks on affiliate link then it will open a particular seller’s app or website. This can make user frustrate.
b. Purchase must be done by only your affiliate link then only you will get paid.
